As our mild Texas winter is fading away and spring is creeping in, there are lots of changes happening in our family. The biggest one is that we are finally moving soon! Our new home is nearing completion and we are ecstatic.
We’ve been living in an apartment since November after deciding to sell our dream home and downsize for a more simple life. Living in a smaller space with kids has had its ups and downs, but for the most part we have enjoyed it.
We love spending more time as a family and I love that housework is a non-issue now. But, we are so excited to have our own home again where all of our joy-sparking things have room to breathe and we can have a garden and play outside more.
We are scheduled to close on our new house next week. There is still a lot of construction happening and so many unfinished details that make me nervous, but everything is supposedly still on track.
Once we close, we’ll have two and a half weeks before we move to put in laminate floors, paint the entire house, paint the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, build a custom pantry, replace all of the light fixtures, add shelving to the closets, install a shiplap accent wall, paint the exterior trim, install a sprinkler system, build raised garden beds and a whole list of other projects. I am cutting myself off from Pinterest and HGTV because I don’t think our house can hold one more trendy idea!

The view from the kitchen sold me on this floorpan. I love the open floorpan and that even when I’m cooking I’ll be able to be a part of everything.

The kitchen is going to experience the biggest changes during our “remodel.” It will have all new flooring, white cabinets, a new backsplash, new paint and a lot more personality.

My kiddos can’t wait to have their own rooms! They love sitting and playing in their empty rooms already.
We’ve hired an awesome company that is going to do the bulk of the work and my uncle is flying in from Florida to help with some of the outdoor projects, but I have a feeling we’re going to have a couple of very crazy weeks ahead.
