I started making these super simple cinnamon apples when Gabriella was a baby and we were starting baby-led weaning.
Most recipes for cinnamon apples include refined sugar, which we avoid. Apples are naturally sweet and delicious, and when paired with a bit of cinnamon, they are delicious without any added sugar.
It almost seems silly to call this a recipe. Just toss the ingredients in a pan and you really can’t mess it up. You can jazz these up by adding a dash of nutmeg or pure vanilla extract, but I usually just keep things simple. We love having cinnamon apples for breakfast, as a snack or even dessert.
- Two medium apples, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add apple slices to the skillet and stir with the butter.
- Let apples cook for 2-3 minutes without stirring until the bottoms begin to brown.
- Add cinnamon and water to skillet and stir.
- Simmer on medium-low until water has evaporated and apples are tender, about 5-10 minutes.
