It was a big day for us! After almost four years in the making, my little girl’s hair finally needed a haircut. My mother is probably crying as she’s reading this because hair has been kind of a big deal in my family. Besides cutting my own hair when I was three, I don’t think I got a haircut until I was a teenager.
I’ve always loved my long hair and imagined my mini-me having the same long hair forever. I had no plans to cut her hair until an eye-opening trip to the bathroom at Costco last week. When I realized her hair was so long it was reaching down into the toilet bowl at Costco, the germaphobe in me screamed on the inside and knew we had to get a haircut- stat!
We made the trip to a kid’s haircut place and aside from the little boy next to us kicking and screaming throughout his haircut, everything went great! Gabriella was a little nervous before we started, but she was excited to sit in the little car and got to watch “Frozen” during her haircut.
We decided on getting her hair cut just above the shoulders. We contemplated trying to donate her hair, but the required 10 inches was just a little too much for us. Next time, we’ll plan for it though.
The stylist asked us if we wanted to keep a lock of hair to commemorate the occasion and my husband and I looked at each other and said, “No way!” KonMari has taught us we don’t need sentimental clutter around. I’ll just stick to electronic clutter like this blog post to remember this big moment!
And here she is, my sweet girl, looking so grown up with her new look.
